‚ÄčExplore Kid-Friendly Dallas

One of America’s 10 largest cities, Dallas has opportunities for adventure and education around every corner. It’s home to numerous city parks and child-friendly attractions such as the renowned Dallas World Aquarium and Dallas Zoo, as well as theme parks and sports stadiums for watching your favorite home team.

At Southfork Ranch, we encourage guests to explore all that “The Big D” offers. From onsite trail rides to picnics and family-friendly events, there’s always something to do on the ranch. When you’re ready to ramble through the rest of Dallas, here are a few recommended activities that will keep parents as entertained as the little ones.

Color My World

Dallas is about to get even more colorful! America’s most popular crayon brand is slated to open The Crayola Experience at The Shops in Willow Bend in spring 2018. The in-mall shop will include a 5,000-square-foot retail store, plus 22 interactive exhibits and activities including drip art and Color Magic 4D art. " It’s a place where families come together to create, play and make memories that will last a lifetime,” says Crayola CEO Smith Holland. “When we visited Plano, we saw a friendly, growing, family-oriented community, and we can’t wait to be a dynamic and colorful part of it.”

Feeling Moody?

Brighten your day at the Moody Family Children’s Museum, part of the renowned Perot Museum of Nature & Science. Kids 5 and under can play with a parent in the preschool exploration space while the rest of the family explores the 5-floor science center. Main hall exhibits include a sports hall, tech-filled innovation center, mineral display and dinosaur replicas. Now through September, you can also catch a special Mayan exhibit where the whole family can build mini pyramids and learn about ancient stargazing.

Go Extreme

Billed as Texas’ only thrill park, Zero Gravity boasts five intense attractions: bungee jumping, a 100-foot-high coaster, a 16-story free fall, 4G skyscraper ride and 70mph Texas Blastoff. Be forewarned, these rides aren’t for the faint of heart. But if your family’s up for a heart-pounding adrenaline rush, there’s no better pit-stop than here.

Play in the Park

The relatively new Klyde Warren Park connects uptown and downtown Dallas via a public greenspace that’s packed with the kind of wholesome, all-American activities that your parents, or grandparents, likely enjoyed. Look for food trucks and Dallas skyline tours, plus chess, croquet, lawn bowling (aka petanque), and ping-pong tables. Klyde Warren also includes a separate children’s playground with storytelling hours and a butterfly-themed splash pad.

With so many activities to occupy wee ones, it’s no wonder Dallas was named one of Rent.com’s Best Places to Raise Kids. The city’s child-friendly reputation means plenty of amenities and recreational hotspots geared for families. From toddlers to teens, there are fun opportunities for kids of every age to explore at Southfork Ranch and beyond.
