What You Need to Know About the Plano Balloon Festival

The Plano Balloon Festival will take place at Oak Point Park September 21-23. Here’s everything you need to know about this annual event.

Balloons galore! There will be 40 hot air balloons putting on a show in the sky. Kids of all ages will have fun spotting the special shapes like Humpty Dumpty, Annie the Lady Bug, High Jack and more!

Plus, more fun in the sky. A sky diving parachute team will perform each day at 5:30 p.m. by jumping out of a plane and landing right in the middle of the launch field.

Live music. Local bands will be playing music each night of the event.

After dark fun. As the hot air balloons come back to land on Saturday evening, a fireworks show will light up the night sky.

Rides and more for the kids. The kids fun zone will have tons of inflatable rides, obstacle course, slides and art activities. There’s even a toddler zone with fun things to do for the littlest kids. Rides vary in price from $1-$4. All-day wristbands are available for $20.

Advance admission tickets. Beginning September 1, you can buy tickets in advance at any Texas InTouch Credit Union. Daily entrance is $10 and weekend tickets are $20. Kids 3-12 years old are $5. Kids 36 inches and under are free.

Festival food. Craving something specific? Chances are, they’ll have it here. Smoothies, bratwurst, turkey legs, corn dogs, gelato and cotton candy just to name a few.

Parking and shuttles. There are many areas available for prime parking for a $10 fee. The event also offers a free bus service. Just take the "Balloon Flyer" bus from the DART Parker Road Station!
