Why You Should Visit Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve

Made famous by the Ewing Family in the television series Dallas, the legendary Southfork Ranch offers daily mansion tours, a premier special events and meeting space, horseback riding trails, and a beautiful backdrop for weddings, reunions and parties of all kinds. If you’re visiting Southfork Ranch for an event or party, we recommend checking out some of the other parks in the area.

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is Plano’s largest park with 800 acres of nature from Parker to Chaparral Roads and Spring Creek Parkway to Los Rios Boulevard. With trails, creeks and ponds open from sunrise to sunset, there’s so much to see and do. Here’s why you should visit our neighbor Oak Point Park.

  1. Kayaking and Paddle Boarding – Do you have your own paddle board or canoe? Bring it to Oak Point and hang out on the pond. Anyone is welcome to canoe, kayak or paddle board on the pond from dawn until dusk.

  1. Exercise Outside – With over 3.5 miles of concrete trails and five miles of soft surface trails located along the creek, Oak Point is an ideal location to go for a run or walk.

  1. Treetop Adventure and Zip Line – Ready for an adventure? Check out Go Ape, a journey through the forest canopy with obstacles, swings and zip lines. A great way to appreciate the beauty of this nature preserve.

  1. Go on a Nature Walk – Use this tree identification guide to learn about the different kinds of trees on the nature preserve while enjoying the fresh air and beautiful scenery.

  1. See the Interactive Exhibit – Oak Point Park Nature & Retreat Center features an interactive indoor exhibit where you can learn about the improvements and history of the preserve.
